The CB1000R is one of the most fun to ride and versatile motorcycles that you can buy in the Indian market today. The design and styling is inspired by the 2007 CB600F Hornet and the engine is a detuned iteration of the 2007 CBR1000RR. The current gen version of the naked motorcycle is technically same as the previous gen version. The differences are merely in the design of the graphics and color schemes available for 2014.
The engine on the CB1000R is DOHC, 998cc, in-line 4 cylinder, liquid cooled motor makes 125 Bhp of power at 10,000 rpm and 73 Nm of torque at 7750 rpm. It is mated to a close ratio six speed manual transmission gearbox and has a top speed upwards of 230 kmph. The engine has loads of power and produces a sweet inline-four sound as it builds its revs. The engine has oodles of power in the lower and mid-range. The fueling is spot on and precise owing to the smart PGM-Fi system. This combined with the computer controlled digital transistorized ignition with 3-D mapping ensures excellent, consistent and reliable performance from its motor.
The single sided swingarm is tastefully designed and precisely engineered to offer the best in handling dynamics while looking the best it can. The four spoke alloy wheels are beautiful and blend with the overall scheme of things while the front fascia is aggressive and reminds one of the transformer movie franchise.
The suspension provides a comfortable ride quality. The riding stance is sporty but yet easy on the back. The seat offers good cushioning making it easy to cover very long distances. The CB1000R with its capabilities is a machine that can pretty much claim to do it all. You can potter around the city comfortably all do long, hit the open highways and tame the twisities on the back roads or go riding on a track day. The handling dynamics are spot on with the motorcycle which makes it such an engaging ride.
One of the few downsides of the CB1000R is that the more aggressive riders would find the rear wheel hoping under quick downshifts. A slipper clutch would have greatly helped the cause here. Also the lack of a windscreen ensures that you will be left to fight a solid windblast as the speeds go over the triple digit mark. For the owners it would be wise to put a windscreen which will greatly aid its touring and long distance capabilities and make the ride that much more comfortable.
